5 Essential Oil Hacks for Travelling! Inspire Me Naturally

We love using essential oils around the home and workplace, but did you know they can also be used to enhance your travel experience?

From relieving jet lag to providing immunity support and even repelling insects, there are so many great reasons to use essential oils on your travel adventures. Read on as we share 5 of our favourite essential oil hacks for travelling below!

Jet Lag Relief

When it comes to arriving at a new location, jet lag can put a serious dampener on your excitement and leave you feeling disoriented and fatigued. To combat this, try placing a few drops of lavender on your pillow, and apply diluted frankincense oil to the soles of your feet before bed. This should help to soothe you into a restful sleep and help to ease your transition into a new time zone.

Repel Insects (Naturally)

Travelling to a new location can often mean the unwanted companionship of insects, especially when camping or hiking! Instead of using chemical repellants, why not create your own natural shield using essential oils?

Simply mix a few drops each of citronella and eucalyptus oil with a carrier oil (such as coconut oil), and apply it to your exposed skin. Not only will this help to keep insects at bay, it will also provide a refreshing and invigorating scent for your outdoor adventures.

Relieve Stress and Anxiety

Travel, while exciting, can sometimes trigger stress and anxiety. Bergamot and chamomile essential oils can be helpful when it comes to boosting your mood and finding a sense of calm amidst the chaos.

You can inhale these oils directly from the bottle, or mix them with a carrier oil and massage them gently into your pulse points.

Immunity Support

When you're on the move, maintaining a strong immune system is crucial! Tea tree and lemon essential oils are renowned for their immune-boosting properties. Before you head out for the day's adventures, create a DIY hand sanitiser by mixing a few drops of tea tree and lemon oil with aloe vera gel. This natural hand sanitiser can help keep germs at bay while moisturising your skin.

Ease Congestion

Traveling can sometimes expose you to different climates and environmental factors that may lead to congestion. Peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils are excellent for clearing your airways and helping you breathe more freely. Add a few drops of each oil to a bowl of hot water, cover your head with a towel, and inhale the steam for quick relief. Alternatively, you can create a travel-friendly inhaler by placing a few drops of these oils on a cotton pad and inhaling as needed.
