Being a parent is extremely rewarding, but it can also lead to lack of sleep, household mess and a whole lot of stress. Enter: aromatherapy!
We love using essential oils to make parenting easier - from head lice to stain removal and immunity support. Read on as we share 10 of our favourite essential oil hacks to make life easier for busy parents!
Help your kids concentrate on their homework by diffusing peppermint oil during study time. Peppermint oil is thought to improve focus, concentration and mental alertness (so you can take a much-needed breather!)
Stress relief hack
Do you or your kids struggle with stress or anxiety? Make your own calming DIY blend by adding 10 drops of lavender oil to a 10ml roller bottle and topping with a carrier oil. Massage into your wrists and pulse points each morning before school or work, and inhale throughout the day as needed.
Head lice hack
Get rid of pesky head lice by adding 8 drops of tea tree oil to a spray bottle filled with water. Spray liberally 3 times a day (focusing on the roots of the hair). After 2 days, wet the hair and use a nit comb to remove the dead lice easily. You can also add a few drops to your kids shampoo to help prevent the infestation!
Stain remover hack
Looking for a natural remedy for stubborn stains? Add stained clothes to your washing machine and run the water until covered. Then, add 1 cup of vinegar, ½ cup of salt, and 3 drops of tea tree oil. Soak for 1 hour before continuing the wash cycle as usual.
Chemical-free cleaner hack

House smells hack
Say goodbye to household odours by diffusing bergamot oil, grapefruit oil or lemon oil throughout the home. These oils act as a natural deodoriser, helping to combat lingering smells while adding a beautiful fragrance to your home.
Immunity support hack
Cold and flu season can take a serious toll on the entire family. Help support a healthy immune system by diffusing antibacterial and antiviral oils such as tea tree oil to help prevent sickness.
Soothe cuts and scrapes hack
Did you know lavender oil can help to soothe irritated skin? Add two to three drops of lavender oil to a tablespoon of coconut oil and apply to cuts and scrapes to speed up the healing process.
Run out of perfume and need a quick alternative? Simply mix your favourite essential oil scent (we love geranium, sandalwood and ylang-ylang!) with a carrier oil and dab gently onto your wrists and neck.
Better sleep hack
If you or your kids are struggling with sleep issues, lavender oil can work wonders. Create a bedtime spray using lavender oil, witch hazel and distilled water, add a couple of drops to your nighttime bath, or diffuse throughout the evening to create a restful atmosphere.
