How to Make Himalayan Salt Scrub

People often think of salt scrubs as a luxurious part of a beauty or relaxation regime, especially great for creating radiant and youthful skin, but few people realise how important an exfoliating scrub can be for their health.
We all know that a salt scrub is a wonderful way to remove dead skin cells and reduce fine lines but did you know that exfoliating your skin also increases circulation and aids in detoxification?
Store bought scrubs can be expensive, or filled with chemicals that can irritate your skin, but the great news is that you can make your own Himalayan salt scrub at home for a fraction of the cost, with all natural ingredients and no hidden nasties.
What you’ll need:
1 cup of Himalayan Salt
1/2 cup of coconut oil
2-3 drops of essential oil
An airtight container for storage
Combine the Himalayan Salt and the coconut oil in a bowl and mix well.
Note: If you don’t have coconut oil on hand, almond oil is a great alternative or, you can use a regular massage oil.
Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil for fragrance. Mix well. Transfer to your storage container store and voila! You’re done!
If you don’t have a favourite fragrance, consider how you’d like the scrub to make you feel. If you’ll be using your scrub primarily before bed try adding some lavender oil for relaxation, or if you’d like your scrub to be more invigorating try adding some peppermint or citrus oil instead.
Making your own scrub can be a healthier and cheaper alternative to the store bought options and in a funky jar with a pretty ribbon it will make a perfect gift for friends or family.
