How to Make Your Own Cleaning Products with Essential Oils!
Many common cleaning products are filled with harmful chemicals, and often leave a toxic smell throughout the home. So why not make the switch to natural cleaning products instead?
Toxin-free cleaning products are not only better for our health and wellness, but also the environment. And when it comes to creating your own toxin-free cleaning remedies, essential oils are one of the best natural ingredients to utilise.

Which essential oils are best for household cleaning?
If you want to make your own cleaning products with essential oils, you’ll first need to know which oils are best suited for the job! Some essential oils are naturally antiviral and antibacterial, making them perfect for disinfecting. Other essential oils have properties that make them better for deodorising.

Ready to make your own cleaning products with essential oils? Keep reading for some of our favourite natural remedies:
- 1 ½ cup white vinegar
- ½ cup water
- 8 x drops of lemon essential oil
Mix ingredients in a 500ml glass spray bottle and shake well. Spray onto glass surfaces and wipe with a paper towel or cloth.
- Glass spray bottle filled with distilled water
- 15 drops essential oils (we recommend a mix of lemon, grapefruit and wild orange)
Mix ingredients together and shake well. Spray throughout the home as needed!
- Baking soda
- Lemon oil
Simply sprinkle the baking soda and 2-3 drops of lemon oil into the toilet bowl and scrub as usual.
- Small glass bottle with cap or pump
- ¼ cup Aloe vera gel
- 1 tablespoon witch hazel
- 5 drops lemon oil
- 5 drops lavender oil
- 15 drops tea tree oil
Mix ingredients together and shake well before use.
Mix essential oils with water and store in a small glass spray bottle. Spray on any areas with mildew to kill the growth of mould.
Garbage bin deodoriser
- 5 x drops of your chosen deodorising essential oil (refer to the list above!)
- 1 x tablespoon of baking powder
Combine the baking powder with the essential oil drops and sprinkle into your garbage bin to remove any lingering smells!
Dab a dust cloth with a few drops of your chosen essential oil and gently polish your wooden furniture.
- 1 x cup of baking soda
- 20 x drops of lemon essential oil or cleansing blend
Mix baking soda with essential oil drops in a glass jar. Close jar tightly with lid, shake the mixture together and leave overnight. Once ready, sprinkle lightly over carpets and let sit for 15 minutes before vacuuming.
