How to Use Clove Essential Oil! - Inspire Me Naturally

Clove essential oil is instantly recognisable for its sweet, spicy spell. But did you know this aromatic oil has a number of versatile uses for our health and wellbeing?

If you’re looking for a new oil to add to your collection, clove is certainly a great choice. From relieving muscle aches to aiding digestion, keep reading as we share some of our favourite ways to use clove essential oil below.

Clove Oil For Muscle Aches and Pains

Clove oil is widely regarded as one of the best oils for relieving sore muscles. This soothing oil may assist with tired, aching muscles after strenuous workouts, as well as mild pains and sprains.

To use clove oil for muscle aches, try adding a few drops to a warm bath soak. You can also try a warm or cold compress - simply soak a clean piece of cloth in a bowl of water and add a few drops of clove oil. Wring out the cloth and apply it directly to the affected area.

Clove Oil to Repel Insects

Clove oil can also make a wonderful insect repellant, especially for ants. To make a non-toxic ant repellant, simply mix ⅓ cup of water with ⅔ of white vinegar in a spray bottle, and combine this with 15 drops each of clove, orange and lemon. Use this spray directly on the ants whenever you have an infestation (but keep away from contact with human skin).

Clove Oil for Improving Digestion

Clove oil is extremely soothing, which can help to reduce any inflammation that may be causing sore stomach aches and belly pains. This aromatic oil is also thought to help relieve symptoms of bloating.

Try combining a couple of drops of clove oil with a carrier oil like coconut oil, and massage gently into your abdomen.

Clove Oil for Toxin-Free Cleaning

Clove oil is also a fantastic ingredient for toxin-free cleaning products. Clove oil is well known for its antifungal properties, making it a great remedy for removing mould and preventing it from growing back.

Simply mix ¼ teaspoon of clove oil with 1 litre of water, and spray it directly on any mouldy areas. Leave overnight, before cleaning with a mix of white vinegar and baking soda the following day.

Clove Oil For Supporting A Healthy Immune System

Clove oil is also antiviral, making it ideal for supporting a healthy immune system during the cold and flu season. We suggest using an essential oil diffuser to disperse clove oil throughout your home, or creating a DIY roller blend to take with you during the day.

Clove Oil For Mental Clarity

Finally, consider using clove oil to improve your mental clarity! Clove oil can have an energising and uplifting effect, making it ideal for an afternoon boost. Try diffusing clove oil during periods of work or study to help you concentrate and improve your focus.
